Just one word of caution, use the same common sense you would use on FB, MySpace, etc, when providing personal information to a prospective employer. If you do not have any information on the employer, other than a login site or email address, send an email of inquiry providing a summary of your qualifications, with your first initial and last name only. . Request they provide you with company details. Then you can research the company. Do not provide your home address, date of birth or social security number until you have verified this company.
Researching an organization can be done through:
- Better Business Bureau, http://www.bbb.org/online.
- State licensing, http://www.usa.gov/Agencies.shtml
- Rip Off Report, http://www.ripoffreport.com/
- Web of Trust, http://www.mywot.com/
- or simply Google “company name + scam” and see what comes up. For online companies, feel free to visit my favorite job forums listed to your right, and ask a question. Works at homers are a friendly helpful bunch and will be happy to assist you. If you are over eighteen these forums are valuable tools for working at home.
